Celebrating Everyday Heroes: Parents Edition

My partner-in-crime, Matt, and I embarked on a sunrise adventure to Annapolis. We were up at the ungodly hour of 7 am (I'm not a morning person, okay?) and drove over to meet our brand new nephew, Austin. This little nugget is just two weeks old, and in that adorable "freshly-baked" phase. The kind where he can only keep his eyes open for a whopping 10-15 minutes at a time.

Seriously, it's stupidly cute.

When I wasn't hogging the baby, I was hanging out with my three-year-old niece. Keeping her entertained for just a few hours was an adventure...stickers, crayons, Paw Patrol toys, a music box and Tigger costume scattered everywhere. It was a full-blown kiddo carnival, and I was the ringmaster. We were all having a great time, until it was time to leave. Cue a meltdown of epic proportions and World War III-level screaming. Matt and I couldn't have left the house fast enough, and boy were we freaking exhausted.

Moral of the story: I'm pretty sure parents are superheroes. Because the sheer amount of energy it takes to show up for their kids every single day (and not commit a crime or lose their shit completely) is nothing short of mind-blowing.

In case no one has told you this today, thank you. And in case you want to thank your parents, a new friend in your mommy group, or just treat yourself—because you freaking deserve it— here are some awesome gifts dedicated to parents everywhere.
